Every player rolls a die for all to see (5 players = 5 dice). All players pick any two dice to make their two digit number and the third die to be their divisor. They can only use each die once in their equation. Everyone writes their equation on their whiteboard/paper. Then, everyone reveals their equation to see who has the highest quotient including the added bonus for whole numbers.

If more than one player has the same high quotient, they divide the points evenly. This could lead to a great discussion about what to do with the remainder, if there is one.

If other players have correct equations, they get one bonus point. Hopefully, this will help players stay more invested in checking everyone’s equation.

You could also flip a coin before each round to determine if you are finding the highest or lowest quotient. That might require a different point system though. Maybe, 5 points for a unique equation that is the highest/lowest, 3 points for shared equations that are the highest/lowest, 1 point for a correct equation that is not the highest/lowest. It would be interesting to see how players change their strategies when finding the the higher or lower quotient.

I will have to play to work out the kinks on these ideas.Thank you so much for the fun game. I needed to find something for my early finishers.

It was challenging enough for the 2-3 grades that I teach, and yet the rules are easy to understand. Many professed they want to play it again!
